1999 Expedition drive train noise

Greetings, I am a lifelong Ford truck n Bronce owner since Studebaker isn't in bussiness any longer. I have a 1999 4x4 Ford Expedition. It has what I guess is a former of all wheel drive with a knob to select " auto, 4H, 4L ". It has over 200,000+ miles. I am experiencing a loud clunking and lurching as the truck accelerateso. It does this in 4H, straight or turning and seems to be coming from the transfer case area. Am I experiencing a driveline slippage of the transfer case chain? or something else? I am a ASE master mechanic but a disabled vet now unable to work on my own trucks. Any ideas of repair costs for this problem? Thankyou in advance for any help.

I just had the same thing happen to my 1999. I replaced the transfer case and the speed sensors. That corrected the problem!
