1999 steering shaft replacement

All,

i have a 99 expedition and im trying to figure out the least expensive way to replace it. Should i build my own? get OEM ($241) or try a newer model steering shaft and hope it fits?

anything other than what i mentioned i am open to. i really dont want to spend OEM price for a steering shaft, i found a steering shaft for 2009 -2014 for 54 bux on amazon but it "says" does not fit. i am leaning towards building or rebuilding the shaft i have if i knew what kind of u-joint coupler i need.

I ordered a used one off fleabay
Said it would fit ,but it did not
Claimed it came off a 2001 F150

i should just do a custom built steering shaft.....

Just make sure you know what it comes off of
