1999 Won't Start

Turns over fine. I turn the key to the "on" position and I hear the pump run for a couple seconds and then shuts off, like normal. When I turn it over it tries to start but doesn't. I checked the PCM fuse and relay and they are fine. So, what is next? I assume when I try to start the camshaft sensor sends pulses to the PCM so the fuel pump knows to keep running. How can I test that and is that correct?

If the Expy doesn't start then the fuel pump will shut off.

Check fuses using a volt meter or test light to see if you have voltage into and out of the fuse.

You may want to try using some starting fluid and spray a little into the Throttle body The engine should start but will only run for a few seconds.

How many miles on the expy?

How do you know the fuel pump is running. Best way to check is buy reading fuel pressure at the fuel rail. No pressure = no start.

When was the fuel filter last changed.

I changed the filter today. I checked all fuses dealing with fuel and PCM with a test light and they were good. I was able to hear the pump running and felt both the fuel and PCM relays switching. There is 165000 miles on the Expy. I did press the fuel pressure valve in and fuel shot up about an inch. Not the best way to check, but it seems as though there is pressure coming from the pump. I will try to get a gauge and test it soon. Maybe Monday.

Okay, my assumption was incorrect. I checked the pressure from the shrader valve on the fuel rail. I had no reading. I will replace the fuel pump.

Before you drop the tank check to see if you have 12 volts from the output side of the fuel shutoff switch. You could also check for fuel flow by removing a hose from the fuel filter.

You may also want to take a rubber mallet and bang on the side of the fuel tank while you have a helper try to start the engine. If it starts then replace the pump.

It wasn't inappropriate yet it did not provide any information to check voltage it only suggest checking for leaks an how to reset the shutoff switch

If the OP checks for voltage and finds he has 12 V in and out of the switch then there is no need to reset the switch and if the fuel pump isn't providing any fuel pressure then he won't find any leaks
