Greetings all,
My 2000 4x4 Expy has 157K miles on it. I recently had it serviced at my local dealer, who has earned my trust, and I spoke w/the shop foreman who did the inspection on it and he said it had been extremely well maintained. I guess the mechanic I bought it from was true to his word. All the fluids are new, new brakes, new radiator, and there is not one leak anywhere under that baby!
The only issue is that the rears shocks are weeping slightly. I have noticed a pretty floaty ride at times, however, it rides very nice. It surprises people when they ride in it how smooth it is. As far as I know the suspension is all stock, and everything is tight.
I want to get replacement shocks and struts that won't break the bank, money is really tight these days; there never seems to be enough. I'll probably put the rear shocks in myself, as those are easy, but pay to have the struts installed. I don't want to get into that at this time, just not enough time and I don't want to rent a spring compressor.
The question is, which brand to get? I want good stuff that will last a long time, as I plan to keep it for at least 5 years, but I don't need anything crazy, as it's all stock. I don't want a super stiff ride, just OEM or maybe better, in terms of feeling more stuck to the road. I would appreciate any recommendations, especially from those who have replaced dampers for a stock set up.
Thanks in advance! I have attached a pick of my Expy! I love that vehicle!
