May give you a starting point and some heads up on working in this location. I lost a c-clip on a rear differential of a Ch-vy Bl-z-r before trading it in. Almost lost the axle and tire if it weren't for the rotor holding it in.
Get a new clip and check the axle end for the step wearing off. New gasket for the end pan. Plenty of fluid, harbor freight has a cheap hand pump to get the fluid in the filling hole, bottle won't fit in with the steering parts in place.
