So, I am new here, and this is my second post.

I had a 2001 Sport Trac that I traded in on a 2005 Expedition 2 weeks ago. I took the Expy to have it inspected (MO State) today and 3 of the 4 ball joints are bad. Strange thing is, I JUST replaced all the ball joints on the the Sport Trac before I traded it off. DANG IT!! Now I have to do them on the Expedition. (Typical of my luck)

So, I just ordered the Moog Upper control arms and lower ball joints from RockAuto, and they are on the way. As I am handy with a wrench, I guess I will do this myself. Local shop quoted $390 labor, including the alignment, which is a good price, but I am cheap. :)

For any of you that have done this, do you have any tips or advice? (Watch out for this, that, etc..) Also, Anyone in KC wanting to stop by and help? :)

Thanks.

Assuming u have the tools to do it just get the truck in the air and go for it. Since u have the experience with the other truck it should b easy. The suspension is fairly similar.

I have not personally done the ball joints on this truck so no input there.

One thing to keep in mind is you will prolly still have to get an alignment. Find out the cost of an alignment alone in your area. Some shops just do it for free with that type if work but if they just do an alignment u might be paying $100 just for the alignment.

I've never done this on the Expedition before; however, I have done it on my Nissan 240sx - the lower ball joints can be a pain to get out of the lower control arm. While leaving the nut on the top threads of the ball joint itself (after loosening), I had to hammer a few times and, in one instance, I had to drive to my friends shop to get it pressed out on a machine.

Good luck let us know how it goes..
