When I try to pass someone my truck starts to hesitate or jerk, that's the best way I can describe it. It does fine picking up speed from a dead stop and seems to be just while passing. No CELL or anything, just the issue picking up speed to pass and it's not all the time. Any ideas?

Yeah. Marginal coils. Replaced all of mine with MSD Street Fires. Problem went away and gas mileage improved. Summit Racing, 8 coils for $162 and change.

I average 16-17 mpg, and it runs great 99% of the time, just this slight hesitation when passing and it's not all the time. I can accelerate from 0-90 with no problems and pretty dang quick for the weight of the truck. It's just when I'm already going down the road and try to pass someone.

Might be fuel related. Instant wide open throttle needs more fuel. Try replacing fuel filter.

That still doesn't explain why it doesn't do it from a dead stop, if I floor it sitting still it does just fine it's only after I'm already going down the road

Just had this happen to my truck and it was 3 bad coils. Cylinder 1,5,7 I believe.

I had no engine lights but when I plugged in my scanner while driving the codes pulled.

I would bet it's the plugs !!!! I have the same problem if they are the original plugs have them changed and your problem will go away as mentioned already.

Fuel filter may not show itself from a stop, the gearing on these trucks is such to where the load in 1st gear at WOT is not as demanding as in 3rd at WOT. My 05 roared off the light, but a kick down acceleration at 60MPH or so, it would miss. I put a set of Summit Racing coils and a fuel filter in. Problem solved.

I have a similar issue except mine feels like it is being held back by something. The engine is up to rpm but feels like its not going compared to the sounds of the engine. I do have a CEL for a catalytic converter and i am just hoping one is clogged and its not a trans issue.

A clogged cat does bog the hell out of the engine.

is your mpg by the "lie-o-meter" or calculated after each fill up dividing the miles by the gallons to fill?
0-90? trying to understand this?

16-17 mpg, you must do a lot of downhill driving in neutral. [emoji23]

Yeah I was impressed with myself when I fairly consistently managed 15. But then I'm rural and NJ is flatter than Olive Oyl.
