2005 Ford Expedition King Ranch – Need help identifying an unknown seat wiring connector

Message:
Hello everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me identify the correct heated/cooled seat module and connector for my 2005 Ford Expedition King Ranch 4WD.

The heated and cooled seat buttons illuminate briefly (all three LEDs), then immediately turn off. The seats do not heat or cool.

I purchased a replacement seat climate module with part number 5L1Z-14C724-BA (later superseded by 7L1Z-14C724-B), but I discovered that my vehicle has a completely different connector. The module cannot be plugged in.

I have already contacted a Ford parts specialist in the United States, who confirmed that there are no adapter harnesses or conversion kits. He said I need the correct module for the connector that is installed in my vehicle.

My questions are:

  • Does anyone recognize this connector?
  • Was there more than one seat climate control system used on the 2005 King Ranch?
  • Could my vehicle have had a seat or wiring harness replaced from another Expedition or Lincoln Navigator?
  • Can anyone identify the correct seat climate module for this connector?

I can upload detailed photos of the connector, the wiring colors, and the seat wiring harness if that helps.

Any information, wiring diagrams, connector identification, or part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hello everyone,

I hope someone here has seen this problem before.

I have a 2005 Ford Expedition King Ranch with heated and cooled front seats.

The seat heating and cooling do not work. I bought the correct seat climate module (Ford service part 5L1Z-14C724-BA, superseded by 7L1Z-14C724-B), but I discovered that my vehicle has a completely different connector under the driver’s seat.

Several Ford parts specialists have already confirmed that there is no adapter harness available and that this connector does not match the standard seat climate module.

I am now trying to identify what this connector is actually for.

Could anyone please help me with the following questions?

  • Has anyone seen this connector before?
  • Which module is supposed to plug into it?
  • Could the driver’s seat have been replaced from another Expedition or Lincoln Navigator?
  • Does anyone have wiring diagrams or connector pin information for this version?

I have attached photos of:

  • the connector,
  • the wiring colors,
  • and the seat module that does not fit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Try https://charm.li/Ford/2005 for the service manual. You'll find part numbers and wiring diagrams for your 2005 Expedition. My 2004 has different diagrams and part numbers I'm sure.

As forum member Awar recently noted from his own vehicles the 2003 and 2004 are fairly similar as are the 2005 and 2006, but there's a lot of change between the 2004 and 2005 model years.
