Hey everyone. On my 05 KR the previous owner did away with the air suspension and just put the springs and struts in. The current set is shot so I’m looking to replace them. At this point can I just get a set of the Duralast or kyb pre assembled strut assemblies from auto zone or do I have to do something special since it was an air setup previously. Just unsure if the mounting points are the same or not. Thank you.

Since the air suspension is gone, it should be just standard struts. I just replaced all 4 corners on our 2004 after 245k on factory struts. I bought Motorcraft struts on Rock Auto on wholesaler close out really cheap. I originally was gonna go with KYB because I haven’t been thrilled with Motorcraft parts recently.

You’ll definitely want an impact wrench and breaker bar (with extender) to get the large bolts undone and re-torqued.

Good call on going to Rockauto. Just ordered a rear set of struts from motorcraft for less than one of any brand at auto zone! Thank you

Don't ever buy parts from Autozone/O'Reilly/etc.

Everything there is marked up +150%

Problem with rock auto is sometimes the shipping puts it over the cost at the local stores anyhow. Sometimes you just need it now. They both have their places.

@DavidGerken I agree. FYI - Just wanted to add that parts from parts.ford.com arrive within a day or 2 and free shipping. The website allows you to check pricing at different stealerships to get the best price, and the parts diagrams on there can be a huge help.

I also did rockauto motorcrafts. And put in spacers to lift it up. I have ~10k miles on it now. With the lift and struts.
