2006 Expedition P0420 code

The wife's new to us car started popping this code shortly after we bought it, I did some research online and decided to replace the downstream O2 sensor but it didn't solve the problem. So, I'm looking for recommendations on a replacement converter. I see some aftermarket options for around $100. I'm away from home on training so I can't get under the car to look, but if I recall the OEM cat is welded in so I'm guessing it will need to go to the shop to get this repaired since I don't trust my welding skills. Any input would be appreciated.

You can get direct fit converters that bolts right in where the OEM one is, it's including the Y-pipe and the pipe going up to the manifold. Check RockAuto Parts Catalog for prices
