2008 EL 4x4 Transmission

Coming up on 140K and have a question. Some mechanics are saying do not mess with transmission if shifting smooth. The book says it's time for a service. Does not have a dipstick so????

Pretty sure it actually does have a mini-dipstick down there.

Supposed to be right next to the cats and a potential burn hazard.
