I disagree, it weighs 5,000+ pounds and is used for towing. Just getting to next station is not good enough. I got a flat in the middle of winter. I blew a Goodyear RT/S, I couldn't find a replacement, for a couple of weeks. Goodyear quit making them and I didn't want to buy 4 new tires. My spare was on the whole time.
The tire they are giving you isn't "just good enough" on the Expy. It is a full sized tire on a steel rim which is stronger than an aluminum rim. Did you see the pic of the one from my 17? It's a Good Year Wrangler. I'm not going to keep going round and round over a spare... I really hope you are just trolling with these comments because they really are unbelievable. "Steel wheels rot in the northeast." Seriously? I spent 40 years there. Anything not taken care of can rot. I can't say I ever saw a car with steel wheels that were rotted unless it was a complete pile of dung already.

I had just discovered the same thing, bought a used 2015 at auction that fairly new goodyear duratrac LT275-65r-18's, which are expensive tires asked around about why I had a 17" spare. Most answer were a 17 could be used as spare but don't use 4x4. I bought a new 18 steel and another duratrac, so if one blew on road I could use the one on the spare. Main question now is what tire pressure to use? Tire states up to 80psi, but that is for heavy towing I believe?

My friends wife got a flat ... Didn't know it ... And drove it home. He noticed it in the garage and asked her. She said it did seem weird and she was going to ask him what was wrong with the car, but forgot.

You wasted your money listening to people that have no idea what they're talking about. Look at this from a commonsense point of view first. How would the four wheel drive be affected by a tire and wheel that are nearly identical in diameter? The size of the wheel is completely irrelevant. The diameter of the tire is all that matters. Everyone should look up how their vehicle actually works. The lack of knowledge and good sense by everyone posting on this thread is mind boggling.
You paid to have "E" rated tires put on if I'm not mistaken. I can tell by the 80 psi max you posted. Once again you pissed away your money. They are only needed if you're towing heavy loads. They are much more than an Expy needs and will make it drive horrible for all intense purposes. Very rough ride due to the stiff sidewall and 10 plies. As for your air pressure, look at your manual. Even better, look at your door frame as you step into your vehicle. It's printed right there...

Respectfully disagree. I have 2 sets of E rated LT tires on my 2 Expys. Good ride not harsh slightly more noise if any. Can't use psi on door label, need to calculate psi. I run 44 to 48. Much deeper tread great for snow and longer life. Nicer on forest service roads with tougher sidewall. Look cool get compliments and feel manly. Not for everyone.
