After getting new chains, guides, and phasers and that idiot mechanic not doing what I told him, that there's a tick under the passenger side valve cover and it's gonna be a bad rocker, now it's getting all new rockers and cams after another mechanic showed me the cam wear.

I knew I shouldn't just get the offending rocker replaced but after the former $1700 phaser job, I wanted cheap. But I considered pick and replacing bad rockers over however long would add up to lots of money, I'm just getting all 24 done for $2200.

My only consolation that the first mechanic ignored me that a rocker needed replaced, as there was a broken spring on 1 phaser, and at 225,000 it needed all that anyway. It did fix the really bad engine surges it was having.

Geez, I hope now at spending almost $4k since August, it lasts another 220k miles, well maybe an oil pump, but now that they have the higher flow pumps available, maybe that'll be the next failure and replacement.

Hi Goofy173,
So glad I came across your post. I have a 2010 with 135,000 miles (220k km) and have a very slight tick starting on the passenger side. The VVT component R&R is done, so I got a quote for replacing roller followers from the Ford dealership.. The labour is 8.8 hours @ 144/hr.
I have asked FordTechMakuloko on two occasions if he could comment on repair hours for the job in his shop, but never received a response. Hoping you or any other forum member could put the 8.8 hour labour quote in perspective? thanks very much.
Did I read correctly that your 2200 quote included camshafts? Holy geez.
