2013 Expedition with 130,000 miles engine locked up

My work place had a work truck just die. It was towed to a shop. It would just click, when started. A loose battery cable is all it was. A seized AC compressor will stall the engine. Shut the AC and try to start. Engines don't lock up unless water gets into engine. It's called hydro locked. A engine will seize after running hot with no coolant or oil, or bad oil pump. However, You would have a warning. A broken connecting rod will make noise and happen at higher RPM. I never heard of a broken timing chain on these motors. If it did have a loose chain you hear it. A spun bearing would make some sound.

Not enough info then...I read, end of a 850 mile trip stopped at a light, no warning lights, engine near/close to idle, temp ok and no abnormal sounds, some metal in oil. These engine run with blown chain tensioners and broken guides. The chains rattle like crazy. I have heard it. The OP is either oblivious and drives with the radio full bast or lying and drove with idiot light flashing. Something makes no sense.

A seized AC compressor will stall the engine.

Mine had no problem starting with the A/C compressor seized, drug the belt right around the stuck pulley like it was turning except for the burning rubber smell and smoke coming off that pulley where the belt was dragging on it.

Starter might not turn it over though.

The easiest road is installing a new motor. Odds are that with metal in the oil, you wouldn't get off cheaper trying to fix this one. But I'd probably drop the oil pan to find the problem. And don't discount that an idiot light didn't work or the oil pressure "gauge" wasn't noticed.

I would find out what it is before buying a new motor.
