Long time reader/researcher, first time poster...I have searched and read the forum and google exhaustively, looking for experience or close to it experience to weigh in. For all the threads already out there, I’m not finding a lot of specific to my exact application answers.

I am about to replace the tires on my 2016 EL Limited 4x4.
Stock 20” wheels. Looking for the largest tire I can fit without lifting or buying new wheels.
Previously I had a 2015 EL 4x4 that I put cooper discoverer at3 LT275/70/R18 on. That’s roughly a 33x11 tire. I always felt like I could have gone a size bigger.

That being said, I am confident-and research confirms-I could put cooper discoverer at3 xlt LT275/60R20(33x11) on my 2016 with little chance for issues.

I have seen one instance with a claim to 285/60R20(33.7x11.3)
And a couple with 275/65R20(34.2x11.1) that say there were no issues.

I am 90% ready to just go with what I know in the 275/60R20(33x11), but can’t shake thinking I could push it to a slightly larger size tire on the stock wheel, without modification.

Thoughts? Advice? Experience?

Increased tire diameters commonly fit without rubbing if within +3% of the stock tire diameter.

Any tires wider than stock sizes may not fit within the fenders and wheel well arches without rubbing.

However, in some cases it may be possible to fit a slightly wider tire without rubbing if the appropriate wheel offset is utilized correctly.
