Larry

Ford recently announced a safety recall involving the rear view camera (intermittent screen display) for the 2017 (and other year’s) Ford Expedition models. You may want to check the NHTSA.gov website.

You can look at your rear corner bumper to determine if you have sensors imbedded in the bumper fascia.

i can not find where it is applicable to 2017's

I did some more research. The camera recall involves the 2015 models - not the 2017 ( I read an article about the recall, and thought it involved the 2015 - 2017 models). I apologize.

The rear view camera worked intermittently on my 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 (blank screen, or warning to see you dealer, or a fuzzy picture). The Ford dealer replaced the camera under my Ford Service Plan and it fixed the problem.

There are rear sensors in the back bumper of my 2017 XLT so I assume they're standard equipment. I appreciate the warnings of "Bush approaching from the left" sometimes when backing into my driveway. Reverse camera works fine. Backing out of a parking spot is so blind that I either back in or pull thru when I can. One blast of the horn is helpful if I have to back out.

I wasn't aware the back up warning system was a mandatory safety item subject to NHTSA review.

Only outstanding safety recall or any recall for that matter for my 2017 is the potential for the brake master cylinder to leak. Dealer will address it the next time I'm in for service but there's no evidence of it now.
