It’s the high pressure fuel pump. Idle rpms it’s around 400psi of pressure being pushed through. It can be up to 2600psi. This is normal soundI have a 2017 Ford Expedition with a 3.5 Ecoboost engine at around 60k miles and I am getting this loud tick as well. It seems like it is always ticking and the only time I cant hear it clearly is when the fan kicks on. The check engine light is not on and i am getting very good 18 MPG fuel economy. It just drives me crazy because I do not hear it in other similar expeditions wit this same engine. Thank you for the suggestions above. I will get it booked in with my Ford dealership and see what they come up with. Will keep you guys posted.
