The button used to be centered under the handle on the glass on the license plate surround then they moved it under the "N." My salesman showed it to me during delivery after we had signed the papers, but I had found it before then. We had it for 4 hour test drive before we bought it.

When I was looking at new Expediton models (I ordered mine), the salesman did not know how to open the rear window glass. I knew it opened, and had to search for the release button. Poor design by Ford.

Even funnier, my wife who drives the Expy Everyday and between the 15 and now 17 has owned one for 2.5 years did not know the glass opened by itself until a few weeks ago when our 9 year old daughter showed her. She had watched me do it. It was GREAT! She blamed it on me for not showing her....I accepted the blame...it is easier that way.

Even funnier, my wife who drives the Expy Everyday and between the 15 and now 17 has owned one for 2.5 years did not know the glass opened by itself until a few weeks ago when our 9 year old daughter showed her. She had watched me do it. It was GREAT! She blamed it on me for not showing her....I accepted the blame...it is easier that way.

The design is poor as the release button is not intuitive or easily found, and it is not marked. It does not have to be centered. Even after I learned the location, it took me a few times to know exactly where to reach under the trim piece to find it.

Several times I have had friends / relatives helping me load items through the rear and they can not easily find the release button. Even the FORD salesperson I dealt with had no idea where the release button was.

The key to your statement is, "Once you know where it is it works great". True, but finding it not easy as it is not apparent where it is.

I have to disagree I like that it’s tucked away under the trim piece and I don’t have some ugly button out in the open. I get what your saying bout finding it though. I just knew it would be back there somewhere when I bought it so I found it in 2 sec.

So my 07 originally had the button placed in the center with little ridges on the plastic to make it easier to locate. I have since added the full length piece to mine and prefer the button off to the right. I'm right handed and when I approach the rear I'm typically centered and the glass release button is pretty much right in line with my right hand. Its personaly preference either way and I like it where it is on the 2015+ vs the older models

I also like it offset. It's under the N it's not hard to find, but what I do like is that if someone is fooling around with the vehicle it will harder for them to find it and play with it. Just my opinion.

I always use the glass only if I can... maybe its the lift (the spacers I used to have up front, and now the ranchos instead), but opening the liftgate tends to make shit tumble out

I have stock 2015 Expedtion Limited 4x4. The rear load floor is level, but slopes downward at the rear. This poor design causes items to shift rearward, against the tailgate, and then fall out of the cargo area when the rear hatch is opened.

When vehicle manufacturers conduct model testing, I am always amazed how they "miss" such poor design features.

I actually had some of those Velcro bottomed 90 degree plastic doodads out of a VW I used to own and they adhere very well to the carpet in the Expy. I use them to hold stuff from sliding back against the lift gate and subsequently falling out on my toes.

i have a weather tech mat thing in the cargo area, its slip resistant, and we put the groceries in the insulated bags. I find that even with all that///i best be near the liftgate when i open it as inevitably a bag will try to leap to its death, usually the one with pickles.
I think in my case it has something to do with driving techniques.
the glass, i am always worried it will break when i close it. A few times i thought it was closed and noticed the lights stayed on, i found the rear glass unlatched. mine takes a good medium close to latch. is this normal

My glass is the same way I have to give it a good shove or it isn’t closed all the way and my dash will yell at me the whole drive that it’s open. It will appear to be latched but it isn’t. Trust me that glass isn’t going anywhere.

I don't slam it. I used to do that, but now I just close it by hand and press the handle on the glass under the wiper arm until it clicks. It nice and easy on my nerves and the glass.
