Hello, new here.
Just brought home a 2017 XLT on Monday. I have been driving the truck around since then, probably about 100-125 miles or so. Love the truck.
I just got around to checking the oil today and I am gutted. It is overfilled several inches above the max line on the dipstick. I called a local trusted service center to drain the oil and refill with synthetic to the correct level. I am going to ask them to capture the oil to see how badly it was overfilled.
What are the chances that this thing has sustained major damage? I haven't seen any smoke from the exhaust or noticed any CELs of any kind and it seems to run great. Here is an image of the dipstick. I bought this from a very reputable dealer and I am not sure how to approach this. Any advise is appreciated. At this point I am even wondering if I should ask them to take it back or give me a really good extended warranty on it... should I take it there before getting the oil drained?
