Hello, my wife has a 2018 Expedition Limited and I've noticed a 5th gear slip only on the first drive and once warm it definitely shifts harder into 5th. I looked at the transmission temps and on a 75-80 degree day around town not towing anything with just her and I, the temps will get up to 222-225. Highway it hangs around 212-218. Now that is colder out it's staying around 208. Should the high temperatures in the summer be concerning or is this normal? My '17 F150 10 speed doesn't get above 190, but it does have the Max tow. Thanks

Is that still the 6r80 6-speed transmission in your 2018? If so, those are normal temps. It's designed to run on the hot side for efficiency reasons.

This guy is an actual transmission engineer:https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1440814-is-it-ok-for-my-trans-to-run-cool.html#post16370603

You can run the trans as high as 220F all day long with NO ill effects. You can go as high as 250F for no more than a half hour at a time.

And here's another good post on the subject: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1070033-max-transmission-temp.html#post16656320

It's a 10 speed. Just crazy to me it's getting that warm without pulling a load. I'm gonna see if they have a software update for the TCM to try an help with the rough shifting and maybe create less heat

When I was in Florida in September, my 2019 transmission temp was around 210-220 depends on the temp range from 85 to 95. I called the dealer and they said it's normal.
