I documented a hefty transmission fix a while back. Had another issue this past weekend while out of town for a weekend get away.
Vehicle towed my 3k lbs boat perfectly, better than my ram 5.7l and more fuel efficient. I was singing its praises.
Next morning I had to run an early errand and on push start it showed dash lights but no start. Tried everything possible- check key, get out lock back in. Vehicle was in park and no other shift was possible. I jumped with a 2500 Chevy, checked battery. Disconnected battery and waited. No luck. I saw a message stating system fault and crank time exceeded. Also a quick battery light flash.
Unhitched the boat and had it towed. Tow could not get it out of park with the special hidden slot in the console. Had to get a rear lift tow truck instead. Frustrating sitting outside a vrbo with a boat on a trailer and excellent weather. Two guys offered to launch the boat at least.
The dealer in Corpus Christi was awesome- much better than my local dealer. They found a connection issue with the battery wire connector. Something about not enough current to crank.
Small issue caused a lot of frustration. My wife believes I bought a dud and want something else. Having driven a new Chevy Tahoe rental I feel it inferior to the Ford Exp. I’ll keep trying but hope no more tow to the dealer experiences.
