I documented a hefty transmission fix a while back. Had another issue this past weekend while out of town for a weekend get away.

Vehicle towed my 3k lbs boat perfectly, better than my ram 5.7l and more fuel efficient. I was singing its praises.

Next morning I had to run an early errand and on push start it showed dash lights but no start. Tried everything possible- check key, get out lock back in. Vehicle was in park and no other shift was possible. I jumped with a 2500 Chevy, checked battery. Disconnected battery and waited. No luck. I saw a message stating system fault and crank time exceeded. Also a quick battery light flash.

Unhitched the boat and had it towed. Tow could not get it out of park with the special hidden slot in the console. Had to get a rear lift tow truck instead. Frustrating sitting outside a vrbo with a boat on a trailer and excellent weather. Two guys offered to launch the boat at least.

The dealer in Corpus Christi was awesome- much better than my local dealer. They found a connection issue with the battery wire connector. Something about not enough current to crank.

Small issue caused a lot of frustration. My wife believes I bought a dud and want something else. Having driven a new Chevy Tahoe rental I feel it inferior to the Ford Exp. I’ll keep trying but hope no more tow to the dealer experiences.

It happens, I recently got rid of a 2017 Ford Fusion, it was just a few issues that I ran across, a/c wiring harness melted for loose connection while on a 1000 mile trip, and the pipe coming from Turbo came off and sucked 2 Qts of oil from engine, after those fixes it was great , but we just needed more room, most new vehicle will have a issue or 2, best of luck!!

Back again for the won't crank situation - after 4 days of dealer troubleshooting they found a problem with cam phasers that need to be replaced. Whatever ... biggest dud of a vehicle I ever owned. And that is on top of 3 ram trucks.

At least they can also fix the faulty seat that won't fold and the faulty mirror that goes crazy and the faulty turn signal stalk.

Once I am done with this vehicle I hope it goes back in the hole they dug it out from when they sold it to me being 10 months old.

rant over.

happy Friday folks :)

Sheeeiitt, they all over the f150 forum. You’d think thy would’ve fixed this issue by now. Unfortunately they don’t have upgradable cam shafts and they just replace with OEM ones and the issue just returns again. Lotta f150 guys pushing to have upgraded cam shafts installed but Ford just seems to put “brand new” OEM ones back in

So why was the oil not reaching the cam phasers causing them to fail. I bet that fix won’t last long. Sounds like you got a lemon.

Cam phasers were replaced last week - vehicle felt good and drove well..... I thought. Saturday about noon I was going down a highway and stopped at an intersection. Autostart kicked in but the vehicle would not start, just cluttered on start attempt - no fun sitting on a busy road with cars flying past you. Anyway - these are my pains I am dealing with my dud truck.

BTW could not get the vehicle out of park, people stop to help get it off the road but no luck. Anyone know how to get the dial into neutral by any chance? I tried what I believed was a little button for shift bypass in the console - no luck.

Video for your entertainment.
