Every time I start the car up and take off it has a slight delay and then kicks in. Im not sure if its the transmission or almost like it takes a second to get gas. It doesnt do it at stoplights or any other time while its moving. Also the 10 speed transmission seems to jump around quite a bit when slowing down and then speeding up. Almost like a jolt sometimes thats really noticeable.

Between the searching for gears, turbo lag, tranny temp, oil temp etc you’re going to have that issue. That’s one thing with these 10spds they can’t ever decide what gear they want to be in and jump all over the place

This has not been my experience; my trans is very good at picking a gear.

It does seem, however, like the vehicle needs a touch more time to get into D from P (or R or whatever) than I was used to in the column shifter from my F150. I’ve just chalked it up to electronic shifting and learned to give it a quarter-second after shifting before mashing the skinny pedal.

Any time you have that many speeds on an automatic, it's going to be hunting up or down. It's just the nature of the beast. As far as a delay when first driving off, in any trans with say a 3 or 4 speed, that's usually a sign of a front pump or pump seal. In your case though, it could be programing of the computer or possibly a Tsb bulletin to correct your problems. Might want to check your dealer.

Mine might shifts up or down on the highway once in a while, but it's so smooth that I have to look at the indicator on the dash to tell. It's equally smooth around town.

The jolting at slow speed is it downshifting so its in the lower gears so you can mash the gas and have it respond right away. Otherwise, it would sit in high gear as you slowed down and then when you stepped on it, then it would first need to shift down a handful of gears before it accelerated.

There is also a brake hold action that you’ll notice more when on hills. Keeps you from rolling back.

I have the exact same issue - nearly every time I leave when it is cold the first shift or two it’s like i am slipping the clutch if it were a manual. Once it was such a pause I fell a bit forward in my chair.

It has done it the first 1000 miles of ownership so I am taking it in for a computer check

Yeah, I have zero issues with either of my 10-speeds (18 Expedition / 18 F150). They do NOT hunt for gears and if it does shift I only know because I have seen a slight change in RPMs or see it on the display. I only get rough downshifts if I am in the sport mode.

The only time I have any weird shift hunting is when I’m drive really slow through a neighborhood with slight changes in elevation. I’ve been creeping and looking at peoples landscaping lately as we are having some work done and I’ve noticed then.

Nobody asked if you let the Expy warm up a tad before driving off....I let mine warm good in winter, then the mile drive to the main road helps it even more. Had a Nissan that would not shift out of 1st gear if it was below freezing. Had to drive like 3 miles at 15 mph before it would shift into 2nd. Nissan said normal when trans is cold. Never ever had a car to do like that before....so I take it to same Nissan dealership and tell them I want to-trade. First thing salesman says is dang your trans acts funny we can’t take a trade like that...I told him to sit down and check my last service visit out.....he looks and sees I was told it was normal, he friggin went somewhere in the dealership and never came back.....I left, and bought a Chevy pickup. By the time I got to the Chevy dealer the Nissan was good and warm and shifting great.....it was only a year old at 8k miles also. Never bought another Nissan.

Im in arizona where its 100 degrees already when I leave so it should be warmed up. Only has 1000 miles on it so maybe it just needs a little breaking in who knows.

During acceleration, the 10 speeds are searching or hunting for the best next gear based off where your foot is on the throttle. They do this all the time and are more prevalent to “hunt” more than a 6 speed bc of the extra 4 gears. You may not notice it but it’s hunting

Meh. If it truly is "hunting" as you claim (without actually owning or regularly operating a 10 speed trans), then it's the most amazing hunting I've ever witnessed.
I've played with the throttle - on flat and hilly terrain - trying to test the speed of which this transmission shifts. EVERY single time, the computer and transmission shift extremely quickly and deliberately into gear and this big hunk of aluminum gets moving.
I'll give you this - I've not yet put 1k miles on my '19, and I haven't been towing anything substantial yet. But I absolutely have put it through some tests. I'm very happy and quite surprised at its performance.
