Hello. My son-in-law has a 2020 Platinum with the OEM 7 pin and 4 pin connections at the rear. Since my 2012 is getting long in the tooth, for our annual Florida Keys trip we'd like his vehicle to be backup to haul my 23' Parker boat if some mechanical issues come up with mine. I have hydraulic brakes, so it has a 5 conductor flat connector. For those unaware, the 5th conductor energizes the lock-out solenoid in the hydraulic brakes on the trailer so that backing up does not engage and lock the trailer brakes.
I believe a 7 pin to 5 pin adapter should work (one due here tomorrow). Does anyone know if the factory pin-out at the rear matches the 7 pin standard (i.e. center conductor should be reverse)?
If you know it doesn't, I assume I can splice in a connection to the rear reverse light in the car. Any experience pro or con here?
Thanks in advance.
