Just curious if anyone else can tell a difference in sound when putting in sport mode?? I moved from a 2020 Explorer ST and when you put it in sport mode there was a very distinct difference in sound. It was much louder and mean sounding in the cabin. I realize this is enhanced through the speakers but there was a big difference. The SPP package says it comes with the sound enhancement but I hear 0 difference. Im wondering if it did not get coded correctly at the factory. I had some issues with my explorers radio and when I got it back the enhancement was gone. I had to take it back in so they could reset it and it worked again.

I do hear a difference but I think most of it is because it holds each gear higher into the RPM's. I'd have to pay more attention to it next time.

What I heard in the ST was the minute I switched it over it got much louder no matter what is was doing. It was a clear difference.

I kind of heard a difference when we drove one. I loved the ST fake sound.

If you want good sound, you unfortunately have the wrong engine for that. These just sound like garbage. No sense in making fake noises....
The new 304a (spp) has an improved exhaust note compared to the 18-21’s it does sound much better this go around.

the explorer has far less sound deadening than the expedition. Much, much less engine and road noise in the expy, so I think what you're hearing is the noise enhancement.
the SPP has an enhanced exhaust note because it's a true dual exhaust, too.

In the explorer, the sound enhancement came through the speakers. It was connected with the sound module located in the right side rear access panel. When my radio went out so did the sound enhancement when it was put in sport mode. I would switch back and forth from normal to sport mode and you couldn’t hear anything. Once they changed the sound module they forgot to program it correctly and there was still no enhanced sound. Took it back and they reprogrammed it and then we had the much longer growl again. I realize this is more or less a “fake” sound but it was kind of fun. The SPP expy said it also came with sound enhancement as part of the expensive package but I don’t hear anything when put into sport mode. Just wondering if mine was not programmed correctly to enhance the sound. Wondering if others can hear a distinct difference when put into sport mode. There was no note on my window sticker that is was deleted.

The SPP does have the augmented sound for sport mode.
It is noticeable but not intrusive.
I’ve at least tested mine and I can tell a difference. But it only is “noticeable” when you’re giving it gas. I can tell in “normal mode” with the same rpm it does not sound as loud in the cabin.
Exhaust does not have any electric dampers so I’m assuming it’s audio system.
On a side note. I have had other cars with electronic dampers and flow controls for exhaust. Those sound far more natural and you can hear the engine’s song up and down the Rpm band, this just takes the same exhaust sound ar various RPMs and makes it slightly louder.

My 304A SPP gets noticeably louder, in a nice way. I did also spring for 4WD and 4.10s, if that matters. I would not have guessed it was sound being pumped into the speakers. If so, that's pretty weak. I was thinking it had to do with the 4WD being engaged, but maybe not...

The sound is being pumped through the speakers. That is how it was with my Explorer. When the sound module went out the sound went away. Also if not programmed correctly you will not hear the sound either. Im guessing mine did not get programmed correctly at the factory.

4.10s?
Do you mean 3.73s?
4.10s are not an option on expeditions.

No and No.

The sound is all from the speakers, and there are no 4.10 gears from the factory.
