Ooohhh, that's fun.
It seems to me that Ford feels disappointed on U.S. transmission plants (class lawsuits), and then try its China plant to see if Chinese workers can build better. I am not saying it's good or bad coz I don't know. It's just interesting.

Not surprised. You have to factor how many components are included and where they are all manufactured, plus shipping logistics. The supply chain is more complex than people realize. You can build high quality in China. But you have to be willing to pay more too.

Interesting. I can't find any information indicating that Ford is assembling 10 speeds in Changan. I also don't see an record of any investment in Changan that would support such a move ($B's) The 10 speeds all look to be assembled in Livonia, MI. The only Transmissions that I see manufactured in China for US assembly are Manuals, specifically 7-speeds for Bronco's. Does anyone else have information showing when/if Ford started assembling 10 speeds in China for US Assembly?

10r80's I think are manufactured in Ohio, Sharonville Plant.

I'm Chinese so I'm biased but Chinese factories can make good things as long as companies aren't trying to push their prices too low. Anker, for example, is a Chinese brand, and the chargers they make are generally really good quality.

Or ford accidentally put this parts origin sheet of another model into the manual packet (sealed in plastic bag) for my expedition.

Being a manufacturing veteran of the planet....I believe that like politics, all manufacturing is local. Simply stating the country of origin says nothing about the quality of the product or capability of the factory it is built in. I have managed world class factories in the US, Japan, China, Germany, and Mexico....and factories that were not so much in all of those countries. Believe it or not, the most profitable way to operate is to ship as little material as possible across oceans. Build in China for China, build in the US for US, etc.
