Monroe air shock replacement kit and coil spacer lift

Looking into getting a kit from strutmasters for replacing the air ride in my 98

probably go with a coil spring spacer for a couple of inches of lift but the plan there is to just use the aluminum spacer everyone seems to be getting off of ebay since I cannot find a better source

The monroe shocks conversion kit runs around 250-275 (part number 90006) for the fours corners and includes the springs but I would rather spend the money to do it right the first time

does anyone know what brand of springs and shocks the strutmasters kit uses

I figure for the extra 300 bucks they probably use upgraded components but I do not know what they use

how big a job is this one to tackle?

My car is a midwest car with a lot of miles, which equals a lot of underbody corrosion which means the fasteners could use a six days pb blaster bath

I have a 20 ton bottle jack and a floor jack, but no real lift so I will be doing a lot crawling to get it done

I am figuring it as a four hour job. Does this sound about right?

turns out absolutely no one, and I mean no one has the monroe kit in stock

strutmasters has the whole thing in stock, but at a 400 dollar premium

they have a much nicer spring, it is powder coated and looks the biz

looks like the trick bit is the coil overs on the front

rear end conversion is a stock spring and a set of monroe load levelers, which cost more that the 90006 kit

I bought the moog spring and a set of monroe 58633 coil overs for the rear

springs and shocks from o'reilly set me back about $210

gonna order the trick fronts from strutmasters for about 250 so I am in for about 460

which means I saved less that a couple hundred bucks and after spending a chunk of time chasing parts suppliers on the phone it is probably a wash but I do have much better shocks on the rear end than the kit

and I caddied for the Dalai Lama once

so I got that going for me

Mutineer, did you need any spring isolators for the rear? I replaced my air with Moog Springs but have a rattle on both side. Also, the springs, although marked which side up, did not appear to fit correctly when positioned according to their tag.
Ive tried ordering isolators from Oreilly but there strokin me for a week now. Finally found a set online for like $5.00.

did not use isolators<br /> <br /> I have some squeaking, but it is when I turn not when I go over bumps so I am not sure what it is<br /> <br /> just ordered the front coilovers for the front from Strutmasters and I'll put those in soon <br /> <br /> maybe that will kill the squeak because my front airshocks are shot to hell

my springs were moog as well but did not have a "this side up" tag so I just made sure I put them both in the same direction, tighter coils to the top

back seems pretty tight, but since I used load leveler shocks that could be why mine does not rattle any

Wow, thats kind of strange. Im running 4yr old KYB's in the rear, wonder if I have a little less sag then you might. Another thing I noticed which is a total mystery is the front ends is almost scary light now, like oversteer. Not sure what happened. The ass end sits higher now with the coils, but the front end feels lighter? Steering REAL touchy. Truthfully, I dont like it like that.

Is your air compressor turned off? I heard that can cause crazy steering.

I turn ours off regularly, it just give it a harsher ride, and sharper "bounce" over bumps. And it stays at the "at rest" height.

Never have a I noticed any negativity in the steering. IT just sounds like a dying cow when its on.

Turned it on in Montana the other day, (their roads!! OMG!!!), truck lifts 2"... "Wow, it used to look like that? huh, who knew?" lol
