oops, sunroof is added to my list.

Dib: That's good advice on 08 and up. I plan to look for the trailer tow package with 3:73 and LS. Thankfully I am in no hurry to buy and would be willing to fly to get what I want.

How tall is a 2nd gen with roof rack, daystar leveling kit and 285/70/17?
How tall is a 2nd gen with roof rack, 3/2 and 295/70/17?
These are the two questions I am researching now.

Cannot comment on the 2nd gen, but my 3rd gen still fits in the garage with factory rubber and the 3/2 kit. My opening is just about 83 inches and I have some room to spare. A 295 will only give a net change in height of about an inch. I'm assuming garage opening is your concern?

Ok, I'm bored, so I just put a tape on the clearance to the roof rack... 3 inches to spare.

Thank you sir! My garage entrance is about 82" with the door seal. I could always move the seal and gain about an inch. The 2nd gen is about a half inch shorter then the 3rd gen. Nice to know I could do the 3/2 and 295 or 285.

I am liking the 05-06 King Ranch.

Do you big tire 3/2 guys have problems with parking ramps?

Parking ramps? I don't follow...
Do you mean parking garages? If so, there's a member with 35's on a 2nd gen and one of his pics was taken in a garage. Most of them in my area are 8'6" anyway.

Yes, parking garages :Big Laugh:

They get a little tighter in the cities up here. I think most are atleast 7'.

What's the deal with the Daystar leveling kit being 2" pucks for the front and the Truxx being 3/2? Last I checked 3-2=1.

The Daystar stuff only does the front, and takes the factory rake away and leaves the rear alone, aka levels out the stance and gets rid of the front end down appearance. The Truxxx kit includes the 2 inch rear pucks to combine with the front 3 inch to not only level but lift the whole rig. Not sure if Daystar even makes something for the back.

Rob,

If you really want to get stupid... You can lift the 2nd gen to 8" with a Rize suspension lift. Unfortunately, Rize stopped making the lift up to 2nd gens..

The problem I have is finding garages that are 7"3" with 33"s (shaddup sgtowing:smile:)..

I've used the Truxxxs and have not had any issues with them..

I should have worded my question a little better.

The Daystar leveling kit lifts the front 2" with pucks. So there for I am assuming the front needs to come up 2" to get level with the stock back.

Truxx 3/2 brings up the front 3" and rear 2". Shouldn't it be a 3/1 lift kit to be level since the difference between the front and rear is 2"? Maybe the Truxx ends up with a little rake?

mindgame 8" is just crazy but also sick looking :head3: With a wife that is 5' 3" I will be lucky to get a 3/2 :anitoof:

My wifey is 5' 1", she complains every now and then.. But I used the same excuse as someone else.. I'll help her, only if she wears her dress every now and then

I'm actually thinking of adding another small tube under the current stock railing only on the wifey side for daily use for the wife and kids...

the rake is 1in stock. thats why a 3/2 is called a leveling kit. and 4x4 are 1 in taller than 2wd. if i remember correctly.

Slïght rake with the Truxxx, but more importantly, room for 33-35 in tires!

Thanks Dib, I understand now.

Mindgame: sounds like you have a very understanding wife. Mine is being pretty cool about me doing a little bit of modding to the future exp because I am giving up my other toy.

Mindgame and Tallsville where do you park those things, in a barn?

My goal will be a 3/2 with 33's. The stock rims are 17x7.5, does a 285 and a 295 fit properly?

In the pics it looks like Daystar uses the puck style. Thats how I did the 2" lift on my Grand Cherokee. The Truxx looks like some sort of bolt in deal. Can anyone explain how the Truxx works/designed?

Stamped steel, or whatever they call it, with an upper flange and a lower flange, if that makes any sense. The lower flange receives the strut and bolts to it. The upper flange goes into the normal strut mounting location. They claim it's a DIY garage kinda thing, don't let them fool ya. I had my local 4wheelparts do the install. Throw in an alignment and the possible need of new caster/camber keys, your set.
Almost forgot, the 295's will fit on the factory rims!

Ok, that's what the pics I saw looked like. Do you think the install is worse than doing a puck style lift?

Strut compressor either way, never liked them. In my older age(ain't that old anyway) I leave the knuckle busting stuff to the shop. I personally installed a Revtek Suspension lift on my old Toyota and a Tuff Country leveling kit on my SuperCrew. After some cursing, blood, and busted knuckles, I vowed not to put another kit on. That's why the shop got the Expy. I was in and out in 3 hrs including a 4 wheel alignment.

I don't think it should be that hard. Undo the lower ball joint and and tie rod and your good. you don't need a spring compressor because you don't have to take apart the spring/shock assembely. slide it out in one piece. When I get the time, I am going to get the spacers and do them myself.
