2nd row seats

I just bought a 2015 El XLT with 40-20-40 2nd row seats. I am going to remove the center seat to create easier access to the 3rd row. Any Ideas what to do with the bolts holes after I remove the seat. I am looking for something that would seal the holes flush so I can buy mats to go over the gaps in the factory carpets.

I did the same thing in my rig. I found to bolts the same thread. I don't remember the exact size. Put a washer on it, put a little " never sieze" on it and cranked them in. I can take a few pictures for shortly.

I used rope caulk. Like the idea of never seize on threads. They will corrode over time if left exposed.

I will explain a litter better. I actually went out and looked and reminded my self what I did. ( I am getting old and forget alot. )
So. I re used the original bolts that had the flat black oval washer / lock thing. Never siezed them and put them back in. There were 3 bolt holes I used new bolts and washers on with never seize. The is one hole left in the floor with no threads. I have addressed that as of yet. My plan was to try to do d a rubber grommet at a hardware store just pop it in there. Here is a few pictures. Right now I just have carpet scraps for floor mats. Plan to change that to something nicer at some point.

Yeah ... plug that, keep the mice out! I bought thick rubber mat at The Depot and cut it to fit around things. Helps keep it in place. I took 4 of the 5 seats out back there.

I put the original bolts back in. Then I took and cut up one of the original rear mats and slipped pieces underneath the existing carpet but over the bolts. I then ordered custom rugs on ebay for an expedition with Captains chairs and you'd never know it wasn't from the factory that way (other than not having arm rests on the newly created bucket seats).

Yes, carpeted mats. I looked at the max liners and husky liners for full coverage, but didn't like the plastic feel. I'd seen them in some used expeditions and looked like dirt was hard to clean out of them and they can be slippery. I wanted full coverage carpet that had a tight weave and easy to clean.

I ordered these in "select touring" trim in black color. The drivers carpet came with the snap retention lugs. My only complaint is that the passenger side front mat does not have a retention thing and the "action back" still let's it slide around a little. Ideally I'd have gotten the rubber nibbed back. You can contact the company directly for that option with the upgraded luxury touring yarn. They were not as thick as I had expected but have a very tight weave that has gradually loosened up over the past 6 months. Looks stock and is full coverage even under the seats! They will send you a free sample pack of carpet styles too upon request.

That full coverage carpets looks like a great option. I am going to check into that also.
