I have a 4.6 and I am happy with it. My upgrades are listed in my signature. The only downside is that mine is 4x2 but I got it at a great price. Really just needed something to haul around the kids and toys. Next one will be a 4x4.

I've only driven mine before I ever got it tuned up and had my mechanic comb through it for me while I've been deployed. I just bought my edge evo/ht programmer for it and will be home this month. So I will tell you what I think about it before I use the programmer, and after. My friend who's been taking care of it since I left is impressed with it though.
When they were new and I was a boyscout, my Scout Master bought a new 01 EB and that thing was awesome stock. That's actually a big reason why I bought mine.

LOL... I like how you just casually threw that in there...

I had goodyear assurance tripletred tires installed a few months back and really like them.

Sorry for crashing your 4.6 thread.... I will leave now. :head3:

I have the 4.6L and its 4wd. Gotts mod and thats it. I like driving it a lot. I would like to get some headers and a nice sounding exhaust. Then get my trans. cooler and temp guage installed.

Current mods on my 98 are Borla Muffler, Modded air box and soon to have PI head and intake swap along with BBK headers, cold air intake, MSD wires and possible programmer. I love the 4.6 due to easy to find parts which happen to be the same for a stang :) Also rims are from an 04 Ford truck.

Plavin1991,

I have the same rims as you. Are your center caps OEM Ford? I have some aftermarket ones from eBay and they keep falling off. I also tried a couple from a local rim shop but they were the same ones from eBay.
I was trying to figure out how to keep them on. I have tried bending the metal tabs to give it more holding pressure on the lug but they still fall off after a couple of weeks.

I was thinking about getting a set of OEM caps but I hate to spend $40-$60 a piece if the will just fall off.

I have a ‘99 4.6L 2WD. not sure why you guys are hacking on the 2wd, I love mine. Mind you I searched a long time to find a 2wd up here in canada, specifically so I could drop it further. Mods are listed below. my average fuel ecopnomy is at 15.1 MPG

i have a 99 4x4 with the 4.6l and love it. of course i traded a 2000 wrangler with the 2.4l so i obviously love the size and power. Its all stock, did a tune up 2 months ag0 and am getting about 15 mpg, cant complain there....and last hunting season went through a mud hole that i sank down to the running boards in and didnt have to put it it 4h, the a4wd handled it without a flinch.....i think its a keeper.....considering a gotts mod, more aggresive off road tires, and a westin brush guard for the front.....

I have no idea who was bashing 2WD models? They serve people very well. I like having the 4WD just for the versatility. Plus with the open rear and and the current state of wet grass. It makes getting around a little less messy. Since I don't have to spin the back tires to go places. I am getting between 17.5mpg and 18.5mpg depending on if I need the air conditioner, in mixed driving.
