Cool thanks. Plan on bigger tires in future. 38's on 20's . Im running 33's now. If I swap out gears now will it mess anything up ?

As long as you do front and back you should be fine, though on 33's you will be running pretty high RPM's at highway speed. I would do the 38's and gears fairly close together.

If you do the gears first, the truck will feel like a rocket when you accelerate. (comparatively)

If you do a lot of highway driving, you'll definitely want to take the advice above and get that bigger rubber on asap.

Ok so I have to replace both front and back. I drive 65 most of the time due to gas use. I can rip if I want to. So if I want to beat people off the line, these gears would work until I switch tires.

In theory they will provide much quicker acceleration. But you say you drive 65 due to gas use. taller gears means higher engine RPM's, which will mean much less fuel economy. If you do the gears and tires together, they will essentially be similar to having 3.73 gears on 31" tires (not sure on the exact math but you get the idea), therefore engine RPM's will come down to stock area. That is why you should try and do them close together.

If you want an idea on how bad the fuel economy will be if you just do gears and wait on tires, drive an hour at 65 with OD shut off after filling it up. Then fill it up again and see how many gallons it takes to go however many miles you made it in an hour (roughly 65 haha). It should run a little higher RPM's than what you will see with the new gears and in OD, but it will give you a rough estimate.

I get the picture lol. I can just take out a hundred and burn it up ! Ok so my plan is to get the tires. put them on then do the gear swap. For gas reasons and work being a 100 miles a day, Im going to get a beater car. Only drive the monster on the weekends.

Thats why I have a hard time putting any bigger than 33's on the truck haha. I like being able to drive it daily, despite the gas cost. But if for whatever reason I get a different truck before this one dies, it is going to become a weekend toy for sure.

As long as you do front side and for the rear you should be excellent, though on 33's you will be operating fairly high RPM's at road rate. I would do the 38's and equipment fairly close together.

I did 4.56 and the rpms are pretty good with 35". I plan to go to a 38" or 40" tire when money happens. Although I would have done 4.88 but I drop to a 34" winter tire so Didn't want that gear and 34" tires. I do alot of highway driving.
