When I tell it to go to a4wd, the light blinks. From what I have read it's the Hall effect sensors on the output shafts from the xfer case. Opinions on this? Can they be tested or should I just get new ones and be done with it.
When I got from a4wd to 4h, I hear a clunk type sound under the truck, I'm guessing it the xfer case changing gears. Correct me if I am wrong. I also hear what sounds like a relay in the dash clicking several times. Is this normal? After a few seconds the 4x4 light comes on and stays on. I don't know when it was last put in 4h, but the first time I did it nothin would illuminate, but now it does a few seconds after I turn the knob.
When going from 4h to 4l I hear another clunk under the truck, guessing again it's the xfer case doing it's thing. After a few seconds the "low range" light comes on. And holy hell, I gave it a little gas and the truck about jumped. Did not realize 4l was actually that low of a gear!
I have replaced the passenger side half shaft (torn boot) and have the drivers side ready to go in. The boot is not torn that I can see, but I see fresh grease on it. So I got another half shaft ready to go in on a semi warm day.
Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to 4wd vehicles, this is my first one. I'm still amazed how low 4l actually is! Any additional comments or insults are welcome!
