I have a 99 Eddie Bauer that I’m going to put a new engine in here soon and i just thought I’d ask and see if anyone can point me in the right direction for a good 5.4 drop in or a better alternative to swap in before I just put a 5.0 coyote in it ... yes I will be putting boost to the new engine probably big single or dual precision’s I have laying in the shop. Never touched a 5.4 before usually stay with older engines, and diesels, just looking for some insight from guys who have experience. Thanks

I did a Lightning motor swap into my F-150 and it's an unbelievable blast to drive just under 500 hp and 530 ft/lbs trq at the wheels. It comes stock 390hp/480tq with a roots style Supercharger but I went and put a Kenne Bell one in there for another 100hp. But if turbos are what you got I would go with a Lincoln Navigator motor it's a 5.4 it drops right in but it's a 4 valve motor so it breathes way better especially for turbos. If I was thinking about my Expy that's what I would do Just my 2 cents.

Yes definitely a drop in affair! If you have 4wd and you wanted to keep it you would have to get a custom tune. With the turbo Navigator setup to get going, you probably wont need a tune. But I would still get one
On mine I installed the transmission and engine from the Lightning. Because the trans was bigger an beefier I had to get a new trans mount ($20 bucks @ the junkyard ) and get the driveshaft cut down and balanced. But the motor dropped right in.
