02 5.4 with 110k. check codes shows #6 missfire. changed coil, plug, injector. still shows miss fire, checked injector with noid light. swapped everything from #1 to #6. miss stays at 6. the engine has a slight miss at idle and through out driving range. if you floor it it will try to smooth out but doesnt. I have seafoamed it, flushed the oil system, uses no oil, starts fine just has a miss. worst of all its the wifes. any ideas? I was thinking lifters or what ever there calling them, may be worn on that cylinder. i checked compression dont remember what it was but it was same as the rest so should be good rings and valve seats. running out of ideas. worst thing its the wifes. now she wants to drive my truck till i get it fixed

well since you have done all this, this may seem like a stupid question but did you reset the computer?

Did you change the lead from the coil to the plug? Also, how about the connection from the computer to the coil, that tells the coil when to fire?

I'm not yet familiar with the expeditions, I've only recently gotten mine. But I know on a lot of GM's and other cars there is actually a fuse for injectors and for coils.....maybe a fusible link or something else is loose or blown.

coil is getting fire. i took an old coil and plug, hooked it to the harness and it was firing the plug. the noid light showed a good pulse for the injector.

When it's installed is a whole different story though. When the plug is installed and the cylinder is building hundreds of psi it's much harder to fire the plug. Bench testing a plug and coil won't tell you if it's too weak to fire when installed. However, if you swapped like you already said, then that eliminates the coil and plug.

But I thought there was a separate lead from the coil to the plug? I've heard of those leads getting dried out and sparking to the engine instead of the plug, and causing headaches.

My other thought is the power wire going to the coil. If it's got a broken strand of wire in it or a loose/corroded connector then you could get intermittent firing under load.
