....Since my DIY reman torque converter replacement (6R75) and my 5.4L timing chain guides, arms, tensioners, oil pump replacement. All work was done during the COVID shutdown to correct a P0741 (TC failure to lock) and a startup rattle. 6 months and about 11,000 miles later all is well in the kingdom and functioning good. I’ve done a lot of driving this summer, 2 times to NYC and back from Buffalo and several trips to the cabin in the south towns for getaway weekends. Also job site to job site constantly. The truck is averaging 15.8 MPG which is a vast improvement from before the work where I sat at 13 mpg. I’d attribute most of that to the old converter issues. New torque converter still locks up like brand new and the 5.4 tows the boat with ease. If I payed a shop to do all the work it would have been well into the $5,000 range. It cost me about $800 to do all this myself. No CEL = Happy Camper. Just thought I’d update since I haven’t been around as much. Not a mechanic, just some guy with some tools. Goes to show if you want to fix something bad enough....you can do it! The bloody knuckles have been oh so worth it.

  • From J expy 07; Do I bother clicking “show ignored content”...it’s gotta be rjdelp or 07Navi. Is it one of them? Did I get it right? Don’t want to spoil the surprise.
What about all the help we gave you on that project. You have never thanked anyone for anything or even admitted they helped you since I first joined this forum. You would probably still be working on it if it wasn't for us.

Your expectation of recognition shows your ‘help’ was all about you, not about the one you ‘helped’.

In which case...you’ve received all the recognition you need...from yourself.

I never said anything about me and you are almost as bad as J expy 07. I helped you a bunch too and all you did was complain about it.

You have to talk to the "special people" in a "special way"
Nav is just "that" guy from the corner dive bar (that is unfortunately is closed now)
I mean I can literally see him sitting at the bar butting in on someone's conversation with some (what he thinks is good) advice.
You have to speak in his language for him to understand.

I don't drink, I just help people but some are too spoiled to appreciate it or they think a novice knows more than an ex mechanic. Kinda' funny really. I thought like that when i was 18 though...........

If by ‘help’ you mean ‘unsolicited ********’ then you absolutely helped.

I tried to tell you not to lock up your perfectly good phasers but you let that crook at the garage charge a bunch to do it and mess up your MPGs, and HP, plus you had to pay again the have the code it threw on your cluster removed after they said that wouldn't happen. Yer' just mad because you messed up your own car and blame me for saying "I told you so" later. They don't care about you or your car, all they want is your money. I tried to help you but whatever. You and that kid with the '07 would make a good pair.........lol.

Smart enough not to sabotage my own truck though.........and pay for it.:emotions34:

My truck is running great with better MPG and more power I had before. Until you’re paying for my truck with your own money shut the hell up.

I would never buy it with the cam phasers all jammed up and the tuner "fix all", don't forget to disclose all that when you go to sell it.

Best to start your own thread, this one is going south. Most people on here are very willing to help, and they have helped me before.
