Wow! Your fabrication skills are quite impressive. :) Wish I could weld. :(
I have considered the turbo route often but the custom nature of it makes it very expensive unless you have the skills to build it yourself! Very nice!!

I wouldnt think this would work well as the IAT sensor is well outside of the airflow?! I think I would mount it somewhere directly in the airflow for best performance.

He said it on the first page. Bennett, NC. Not too far from Asheboro.

Very cool build, I've always wondered what a turbo expy would be like. I'm definitely

I am about an hour south of Raleigh. When i used to be stationed in Norfolk it was a 4 hour drive home!

I got a receipt pile that would scare you. I will post a run down on prices when i get finished.

Thanks. I appreciate it. The IAT sensor should be fine because that entire area is under pressure with the turbo setup. With a blower i would be more concerned with it, but then again it would be down in the lower behind the intercooler.

Yes it is mounted after the blower and intercooler to give you the important intake air temp readings for tuning purposes. On the lightning its right in the runner of one cylinder so it gets great airflow across the element. When I monitor my IAT readings in real time I find it is very responsive. My mustang is set up the same way...just think where your mounting yours it will be far less sensitive and accurate thats all... but I am just viewing your photo don't have throttle body in front of me.

Here is the finished product. I have a few things to go over. Had to go back and fix the wastegate, it was hanging open. The guide in the main housing wasnt pressed down far enough so the plunger was hitting it before the valve set on the seat.

A few other issues as well, probably due to the :flamingdevil:on the last expedition and I used some of those parts so its coming back to haunt me I am sure.

Just wanted to update this tread with some info.

Got the expedition all tuned in pretty decent(no dyno yet)

Drove it to the beach today, average of 21 MPG Highway (been getting 16 around town) I was expecting pretty decent mileage with the turbo setup and this has paid off. I am extremely happy with this! Now i hope i can average 13-15 towing!

I also installed a mustang traction lock in the frontend (contrary to belief i seriously doubt it hurt mileage and it does not pull to the left as i have read)

Trans apparantly got too hot in the fire from the 97, so i had to go back in rebuild. In the process i found the case to be warped extremely(go figure) and had to start all over.

I have it fixed and if anyone is interested in that process, take a look here

E4od is the same. Just 4WD rear case is different.
I added a zpack to intermediate and all ALTO power packs in other clutches. Shifting is top notch!
I also put a LPD cooler out front and canned the factory trans cooler.
Trans temp in 100+ heat with convertor never top 170deg!

On that note the Circle D convertor and the Borg warner with smaller backside is a blast. THis thing makes boost almost as quickly as an eaton lightning, its crazy. I had issues with fuel tip in due to it! IT will make 6 psi of boost in OD before it even kicks down to third for a long hill!

Cant wait to put this thing to use towing!

When i get back next week ill get some video. The exhaust has a good sound to it and its not obnoxious. Pretty quite really. The borg warner lights off so quick that when the truck goes under 12hg it starts to whistle, by the time you are 0 on the boost guage its whistling pretty loud.

Sorry it took me so long to get these but here you go. It sounds loud at wot because the wastegate is vented to atmosphere.

Hard to tell in the vid but when i put it on the convertor it rides out fast.

Just cruising its real quite, on the last vid i was cruising from 60 i eased into it to show just how loud the Borg warner is when it gets a bit of throttle.

Wow.... checking out your photobucket album. Nice turbo lightning build and fox body mustang!! Great fabricating skills.

Looks like your a regular at the dragstrip. :) I lived at the dragstrip in my earlier years and have 1,000's of passes on my stang but with the family my 1320 activity has been reduced somewhat..:bawl:

Thanks a lot guys.

Here is a pic at how well the air bags hold up. Got a chance to head down to Rockingham yesterday.

Expedition tows real well, gets really good fuel mileage with trailer, probably better than I hoped for. I want some Michelin LTX MS2s in 10 ply for it. The regular tires tend to shift around a bit. IT isnt anything serious but occasionly its noticeable.
