My a/c (compressor?) is making noise. It kinda squeals & griinds when the a/c is turned on. The guy at the repair shop said it could go out in 6 months or 6 years, who knows. (He told me this almost a year ago).
Is there any way to make this thing quiet down? I don't want to replace parts, I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do in the meantime. If I end up selling the truck, i sure don't want a squeaky, noisy a/c to scare people off.
Thanks!!

The only thing that is easily replaced is the belt. Usually the noise will come from a bearing that is getting ready to bite the dust.

I just replaced a compressor on mine that was leaking from the seals behind the clutch of the compressor and the clutch itself was making a loud ticking noise...I found a brand new compressor on ebay for $129.00 shipped to my door and paid 160.00 to have it installed...I was told if I waited till the compressor came apart, I could be looking at a couple of grand because so much would needed to be replaced...nothing will make it quite....I place a link below to the ebay store I got mine from....this was a brand new unit...not a rebuilt.....by the way...the seller originally wanted $140.00 for the compressor but there is a make an offer box....I offered him $129.00....
