Ok this is my first post on this forum so i hope i am putting this in the correct area. i have a 1999 expedition eddie bauer with a 5.4 2wd. we recently took it to the dealer to have the air conditioning looked as it was not blowing cold. they said the front seal of the compressor and the manifold is cracked. i checked and it is leaking with no pressure left after 24hrs. So i went on rockauto and bought a denso compressor, motorcraft manifold, and a seal/ o ring kit. Does anyone have any suggestions or hints. i will be taking it to my friends shop to have it evac and filled after the repair.

thanks in advance

So, did you tackle the project yet? I have the same compressor leak. Compressor got here today, accumulator and seals on Monday. I'll post back any tips/tricks next week. Looks like the compressor might be a bit of a pain. What sucks about A/C it always breaks when its HOT. Low-mid 90s for the past 2 weeks and no relief in sight!

Send that weather over here! It seems like it has been winter forever where I live and will never get warm. It's only in the 60s right now which is freezing for summer time especially when you want to go to the beach. These A/C compressors seem to be a big problem, it seems like just about everyone is having to replace theirs. I had to replace mine even though I only use it once or twice a year.

Yeh, I heard you guys were having some weird weather out there for June, but you'll get no sympathy from me!! I have family down in LaJolla and weather is something you are NEVER allowed complain about....even when its weird.:p

This issue was a bit unexpected, but I can't complain too much. I picked the truck up cheap and have been working through some of the neglected maintenance. My a/c guy said he couldn't tell exactly where the leak was but the compressor was completely covered in the dye. I'm hoping this will be last time I ever have to touch the a/c system.

well me it cost me only with the price of the ac and the rest of the work i did it. actually doing the diy will lessen your expenses. the repair that i did was i just followed the instruction shared to me by my friend who work a mechanic in one of the california auto repair shops.
