AC Low Pressure Fill Port Not fitting AC Pro

Just noticed our AC isn't blowing cold, so i purchased a can of AC pro to recharge the system (it's done it in other vehicles successfully). Anyways, according to the AC pro website the low pressure port is up by the Radiator, but I've found that the port on the AC pro can won't fit the supposed low pressure port. The cap on the port doesn't have an "H" or an "L" marking either. Anyways hoping if someone knows if the low side port is in a different location or if there is an adapter needed to recharge in the 2018 and new expeditions?

Yes that’s the video the screen grab is from. That port shown in the video as the low side port will not connect to the AC pro can. Has anyone recharged the AC in the newer expedition and can they confirm the port location?

Man you must live in that thing. I used to put about 25k a year on a car and that was some serious driving. Good thing these are comfy rides.

I'd be worried, where's the leak? Find a reputable auto AC mechanic to check it out and fix it. Compressor oil is mixed in the refrigerant. Leaks could result in low lubricant to the compressor leading to compressor failure. $$$$. Better safe than sorry. Repair could be simple fitting $ or hose $$ to a worst case evaporator leak $$$$ in the dashboard repair but at least you won't compound the problem with the compressor too.

I dont believe you can do that.
These dont use 134a. They use something like r1234yf
Probably why you can not fit on your fill line.

Thanks you’re right just ordered an adapter. Hadn’t heard of the new type of refrigerant.

Also there is a TSB. Some 2018 got mixed up. They way I take it the factory had comintated freon. A mix of 134a and r1234yf. And were pumping it in to cars.

Freon is has not been used in motor vehicles, including Ford Expeditions, for some time.

You are correct. Freon is a registered trademark of The Chemours Company.

In 2017 the expedition was still using 134a. 2018 ford switched to r-1234yf

And from the TSB in 2018 there was a mix up.

if you have an 2018 that was mixed up.
The whole a/c system needs to be replaced.

That AC Pro is full of STOP LEAK, so IF you use it and it plugs a small passage up, you will be replacing all kinds of expensive parts. My neighbor works on AC stuff non stop and he said that AC Pro stuff keeps him in business.

I would not add anything to the AC on the expedition. Take it to a dealer or someone that has the stuff to work on the weird stuff in the expedition.

Something most people don't realize. The hose on the 'ac pro', has air in it. You will be adding a shot of air into your AC system. The correct way to add is using vacuum. I would try getting it fixed under warranty. You are just slightly over the miles and under the years. I believe in a saying called 'MAKE THEM TELL YOU NO'. Ask the service advisor for help and see if it's a common issue. If it is they make just fix it. If it's a rare issue they may also fix it. Ask for the Ford district Rep to get involved.

My service writer told me there are a lot of 2018’s out there that have not had the TSB performed yet. He said the indication is the that the system stops blowing cold, and it’s because there is a blockage caused by the bad mixture.
They replace the entire A/C system. He said the ticket is about $3,000...but covered under warranty.
Recommend you have the dealer check yours soonest.
