Hello,
I cannot find other post on this topic, so reposting.
Adding a electronic brake controller to my 2019 Expy Max 3.31 cargo weight capacity 1688.
Looking for real world thoughts or real world applications.
Typically tow a 5000# easy, wanting to tow 26 ft Travel Trailer, tung weight 550, wet weight 6600#.
thanks

X2 as I did. Go with Ford Oem. Make you u do the Forscan to go with it so you have all options and settings available to you in the cluster.

My TT weighs 5820. No issues at all. Wouldn’t go more, but tows like a dream

What makes you say, your trailer is the largest you would like to tow with your Expy? Short wheel base? Lack of Power? Not a comfortable/safe feeling ride? Thanks for your help..

Agreed. Have the same thing as you, 2019 XLT Max, non-HD tow, 3.31 gears. Added an aftermarket brake controller and activated it with ForScan. works great. Just got back from a week long trip towing our TT 740 miles each way. UVW is 5660. Loaded, was just over 6k. Once I got the sway control dialed in on the WDH, it went well.

Kept a consistent eye on the engine and trans temps, engine had no issues except being very thirsty. Trans never got over the normal operating temp.

I got the Tekonsha P3 brake controller and the harness so I don't have to deal with ForScan.

Since I don’t have the HD tow, I’m still conscious of what I’m pulling with my Exp. I’ve got an XLT, 3.31, short WB, sumo springs, Blue OX WDH.
Plenty of power, handling is great, trans temp never an issue even during August pilling on a long trip through the Smoky Mts.
It does great, but I still take it easy.

You all are a blessing. Just pulled trigger on Expy Max XLT. 3.31 !!!
Hard to find on low end 200a package.
$13,000 in rebates.
Dealer is installing brake control and forscan. Service knew what I wanted $300. I was good with.
Delivery in a few days!

How do those sumo springs affect the ride?
