My 2009 XLT didn't come with the factory signal lights mounted below the side mirrors. Is it possible to add them? The mirrors look as if they have the space for them (Like some type of plastic "Knock-out" or "Spacer" where the lights would go). Is the wiring already there, just not used? The mirrors have defrosters in them if this makes a difference. Is there a kit for this "Add-On"? Let me know if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks!

are you talking about the orange row of l.e.d.s that sit directly under the mirror (glass) or the puddle lamp the part at the bottom of the mirror that lights up the door?

I am talking about the Signal Lights. I do have the "Puddle Lights" that came stock. I'm not sure how they (the signal lights) are made, but I would imagine they would be amber in color.

yeah signal lights which are leds... you could install them but i don't know if ford sells just that part by itselft, you can try trascafordparts and email them, but you would have to splice the turn signal wires so that they could work, or you research the wiring digrams and splice in the that harness that connects to the mirrors

Had a jeep with the same situation, usually the wiring is already there, but you probably have to change the whole mirror. Let me know how you make out, im in the same boat.

Expedition,
I can't find "Trascafordparts" on the internet. I found a "Tasca Ford Parts" located somwhere in Rhode Island. Would this be the one?

Finally! An Answer to our Question!

After getting in touch with TASCA Parts, we finally got an answer from someone who knows. Here is there reply:

"the entire mirror would have to be changed as there is no pocket that you can remove to add this, the truck should be pre-wired for this type of application as well."

Well I guess that about says it all! I don't think I'll be going to that kind of expense for that minor luxury. Oh well, at least I know now. Thanks everyone for your help and input!
