I recently purchased a one-owner 2000 Expedition XLT 5.4L, 9.5 rear w/102K miles. After being assured (by the Chevy dealer) that the only sounds I heard from the drivetrain were "normal" sounds in 4WD when not in low-traction situations, I think I've got the rear-end LSD chatter problem.

I drained both front & rear diffs, refilled with the OEM recommended fluid & added friction modifier in the rear. The chatter was immediately reduced but is now back, about 400 miles or so later. After looking on this forum - and others - it sounds like I'll be having to replace the clutch packs or whatever.

For now I don't have any heavy duty driving applications, but I do plan on towing an RV in the next year or so. Are there any reputable aftermarket parts that I could use? Seems that since the OEM parts have been having trouble for several model years I'd want to stay away from them if I can.
