Hello,
I have a 2004 Ford Expedition with a 5.4L 9.75" IRS open differential.
Does anyone recommend a particular brand of limited slip differential?
Any particular aftermarket parts dealership that will give a discount or reasonable price for using their business?
I have rebuild an axle or 2, but should I have a certified shop do the install?

Thanks for info in advance!

I went to DiffWorks in Riverside. They do good work and seem to be good people. They've done diffs for a few cars for that show Overhaulin'.

You'll have to call for more info, their website doesn't list everything they do.

Got some good info

After talking with Diff Works (those guys know their stuff!!!)
Heres basicly what I found out:
8.8" Differentials (only with 4.6L engines)
Eaton LSD (Clutch Type) about $400
Auburn LSD (Cone Type) about $400
Either one installed About $600

9.75" Differential (Only with 5.4L engines)
Auburn Makes a LSD, About $450
Installed is about $750

Said that Eaton is working on releasing a LSD for the 9.75"

Not Bad Pricing! (also considering im keeping the stock 3.73 gear ratio)

I was originally interested in getting a Power Trax LSD, but they talked me out of it with their knowledge, called it a poor mans locker....

Nice!
'
I'd prefer a mechanically-locking diff like an Auburn, as opposed the the Ford Racing unit that I have (clutch-type).

The clutch-types are old-school, and don't transmitt as much torque. They also wear out over time.
