The plastic running boards on my '11 EL are starting to look a little sad these days and family has asked me to start updating my xmas wish list. Thinking of putting nerf bars or new running boards on the truck. I think the long plastic running board makes the truck look like it has less ground clearance than it really does, so would also like to make it "look" a little taller.

What aftermarket steps is everyone else running? If you have pics and where you found them that would be awesome info as well.

I have Nfabs on my shortie '09...BUT....

They don't come with correct mounts, it's hella improvised and kinda flimsy. Jigsaws and beaucoup redneck engineering bolting em to the rockers involved.

Woulda returned them, but by the time I got around to doing the install the 30 days were up

Get something better

2004 XLS 4.6 about 18,800 miles.

Just a photo of the round nerf bar to provide an option. Were attached when new (2004), with no deterioration of chrome finish to-date.
Simple bolt-on application without need to jack.

Google round nerf bars for several suppliers.
They provide a sporty look with utility.

I did iBoards since the OEM gold ones were cracked/ rust stained post rocker panel replacement. They are meh....ok, solid and mounts into the OEM inner rocker pre threaded holes. My only complaint is they are a bit short on my EL. They cover both doors well but aren’t as long as the originals as far as going to the wheel arches. Finish so far is holding up.

I am considering putting these on in the future:

I first have a few other more important parts that I need to do first but the $90+ shipping cost for a unit for the Expedition EL model while a set for the shortish Expedition models is "free shipping" seems to be a bit of a rip off.

Anyone have any thoughts?
