went to buy air filter. fram was around $20; k n was in stratoshere; and there was another reusable one at $25.......... Spectre gives the usual pitch as k and n........... I put one in and noticed a little quicker pick up........ has anyone else had experience with spectre? it was only a little more than the premium fram option:hitit::hitit:

hovocop, yes, you will experience a little bit quicker throttle response. The replacable filters do not drop quite as much pressure as a paper filter. I have no experience with the Spectre filters, but I have been running a K&N in my Expy for the last 10 years. No issues to date. If anything, it probably saved me once or twice when I went through 4 feet of water (had water above the seem between the hood and the grille).

Yeah I noticed good pick up in throttle response with my K&N. Its probably paying mostly for the name, but I don't think I would ever vary brands from K&N. Too many people swear by them, I have had no reason to not do the same.

panda, they make a special sock that goes over the air filter for when you play in the dirt. It pulls the dust out of the air before it hits the filter. If the sock gets too much dirt in it, you pull it off, smack it around a little bit and then put it back on. takes all of about 2 minutes to do.
