A while back I installed a leveling kit. 3.5" in front and 2" in the rear. I never had money for an alignment but now I do. do I need to get an alignment for just the front or both front and rear? I figure the rear would be fine since it's locked straight and isn't nearly as high. What do you guys recommend?

I would say you should be fine. You are right, if yours is a 1st gen (I am assuming this to be the case since you mentioned the straight axle) then you would only align the front. Still I don't think that is enough height to significantly change things. Watch your tires for uneven wear in front, if you do see that get it aligned and rotate those tires to the back. Otherwise I would just leave it.

I think the back will be fine so I won't worry. So far the tires seem fine. I actually have a 2nd gen 2wd year 2003. Will that make any difference? I'll check tomorrow for the wear and call a place or two.

Well if it is a second gen, it should have IRS (If not my life has been a lie) so in that case you would get the rear aligned if you had it done. I still stand by that the height change is pretty minimal, but considering you could get bad wear on all 4 tires instead of just 2, it might be a case of "better safe than sorry"
