Penske Racing will be leaving Dodge at the year end and will be reuniting with Ford as their sponsored ride for 2013 and onward. Penske used to be with Ford in the past for almost 20 yrs, then in 2003 moved over to the Dodge stable. Penske racing as of now is the only race team driving the Dodge brand in Sprint Cup Series. Dodge is expected in a couple weeks to unveil the new 2013 Dodge Charger, and they will. But as of right now, No teams are slated to run a Dodge in 2013 season. So what will become of Dodge in 2013? Well it is hard to tell at this moment in time. But it looks as if Dodge is out of the picture for the Sprint Cup Series, which is the big dollar making Elite series throughout NASCAR as a whole. Dodge still plans to run teams in the Nationwide and Truck Series, but alot of money is to be lost in thought of not having a team backed and sponsored in Sprint Cup, and will be a big blow to Dodge Racing Technology Team Development.
Roger Penske did not comment on weather he would still maintain his engine department to build his own engines with Ford. As he has always done now and in the past as a NASCAR team. But did say that he has over 75 engine department personal and that he had to make it priority to protect that crew and the jobs they hold. So the question still remains will Roger build his own engines, or will he team up with Yates/Roush Engines.
