We're looking at buying a new Expedition Max XLT. I'd love to be able to use Android Auto with voice commands, but don't need the navigation system. The online build tool has a base system called "Sync 3" vs "Voice command touch screen navigation system". This gives me the impression that without the navigation system I won't have a touch screen or be able to use Android Auto or voice commands. Is this correct, or can I use Android Auto and voice commands with the Base System?

Are you talking the real base system (4” non-touch screen) that comes on the cloth seats and all XLT or the 8” touch screen that comes with the 202A package? The non-navigation 8” touch screen gets you Android Auto and CarPlay and voice commands. (This is what we have in ours. I didn’t see the point in paying for a navigation system if I had Car Play ad Android Auto)

The 2019 XLTs all come with the 8” screen. There is no longer a 4” screen option for any XLTs as there was for the base level 2018s.

My base 2019 xlt seems to do everything via android auto that I want it to do. You must be plugged in with the usb though. That is the same with the apple products too though. Just how it is. It works great though.
