Are the left and right the same? The outer boot on the passenger side (I'm guessing this is called the right side?) is shot and has slung grease everywhere. I'm about to order new rear lower trailing arms so I was going to add a new half shaft to the order. Just wondering if the left and right are the same. Thanks again!

a quick glance on rock auto shows the cv half shaft as left or right, there are no single sided axles there, I would assume that, no, the axles are not specific to either side, but you should use your own judgement before installing the part, just do a side by side before putting it in.

And now I have problems. The bolts that hold the flange of the half shaft to the axle housing are too rotten for a socket to grab. I put some pb blaster on the bolts hoping if it sits overnight it *might* help, but I'm not holding my breath. I really don't want to drill them all out. I'm thinking I will go the junk yard and get the piece that goes between the half shaft and the diff. I don't see any other option. Ugh...

I am open to suggestions...

Soaking the bolts with penetrating oil, will add some heat later. Hoping I can get them to release.

Heat and pb blaster almost always work for me. Getting a torch that heats a small spot very quickly is extra helpful. As is an impact wrench to help jar stuff loose. Many times, a bolt will break with lots of force applied to a ratchet or breaker bar, but will back on out with an impact.
