I talked about this a few years back. I trailer long distances a fair amount and in the case of getting a flat on one of the truck tires, I didn't want to put a non matching wheel / tire combo on and then run hundreds of miles pulling a trailer that way.
At the time I purchased a matching 20" x 8.5" FL1z1007F polished wheel and Michelin Defender LTX 275/55-20 tire. Simple solution right? When I went to install it, I found that the center hole in the 20" FL1z1007F wheel is too small for the cable lifting cleat to pass through.
For the last 4 years, I've been carrying the truck and trailer spare in the back of the truck, but it takes up alot of space.
I'm wondering if anyone either has or knows where to source a 20" x 8.5" steel wheel with both backspace matching the standard wheel and a larger center hole similar in size to the 17" steel wheel that comes as the truck spare. This would allow me to move the 20" LTX tire I carry around onto the new steel wheel and store it in the spare tire well, freeing up a lot of space inside the truck on long trips.
