There are some posts in the F150 group of people adding OEM cameras to their non factory equipped vehicles. The XLT I think is a little harder due to the missing technology package. you might be better off going aftermarket if you are only looking for the front camera. I am in the process not of adding the OEM 360 camera to an 2018 limited. Mine is however easier due to already having the technology package so all I need to do is change a module and add cameras

Hey if you think of it, do a video or post pics of the process. I think people would appreciate that.....

I reached out to Rosta, the manufacturer of this product, with the following question.....

"I have a 2017 Ford Expedition with the Sync3 navigation system. Since this vehicle shares a lot of functions with the F150 truck, I'm wondering if this product would work with this vehicle?'.

And their reply .....

"Good morning and thank you for your email. At the present time we do not offer a multi-camera interface for the Expedition. If one becomes available in the future I will make sure to circle back to your email and let you know."

Thank you for your interest.

Probably a canned response in that they've not tested it with an Expedition, but since this product is around $400 +/- retail, I'm not sure I would risk it.

Very much would like to now more info on your cost and installation of this. I posted a question about this awhile back and everyone was saying it would be too costly. But might have been the fact that I asked about everything I was missing in my used Limited. But mostly I would love to have the 360 Cam system. If you don't mind shedding some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have contacted Rostra and they actually have a unit that can add a single camera, Rostra part number 250-8420-MOD

This is the compatibility table https://www.rostra.com/add-camera-to-factory-lcd-screen-in-car.php#ford
This is the product link provided https://www.rostra.com/add-camera-to-factory-lcd-screen-in-car.php#2508420MOD
Install Guide link https://www.rostra.com/manuals/250-8420-MOD_Form5620B.pdf

It appears that it does not have an automatic mode to switch the camera on at slow speeds, waiting on Rostra to confirm this.

Other than that this may be perfect for a front Camera install.

(Rostra has confirmed that you have to turn the camera on manually)

Sorry been off the forum for a little bit (work got in the way) I am still gathering parts for mine so by no means done. So far I have all the components for the front grill (Emblem, camera, washer, washer hoses etc) and a passenger mirror harness and camera. most of the stuff I have found on ebay used, some things I had to buy new from Ford. I also found some part numbers for connectors that will be needed to connect the mirror cameras to the door harness. The most expensive part I think is going to be the camera module that goes behind the Sync3 display in the dash. The cheapest I have found it is $515 new. I am still hoping I can find a used one on ebay at some point to save a little on it. There is also a dash switch that needs to be replaced to get the camera button over the radio. It was like $12 new from Ford.

So back to your original question on price, I think if you have the technology package and do not need to change any wiring out in the dash and bought all new components I think you would be in the $1500-$2000 range. If your willing to take your time and find used parts either through junk yards or ebay I think the package can be done around $750 - $1,000 range.

I still need one more mirror camera and either a mirror harness or connectors for the driver's door, and also the camera module. Once I get the rest of these parts I will start installing everything and can let you know how it goes once I get to that point.

I would be interested in doing the 360° mod also. I’ve seen several references to Lucas8888’s write up on the F150 forum. Does anybody know where I can find this write up? All of the links that I have found to it are gone.

I’m really interested in seeing the 360 cameras added. Even at $2,000 to $2,500 for brand new parts, I’d still do it. It’s the one feature my 18 doesn’t have that I would really like to have.

My '16 Explorer Limited had a front camera, my '18 Expy Limited does not, and I REALLY miss that camera, especially since the Expedition is so much bigger and I'm not quite used to where the front end stops and the garage door begins! The collision system beeps help but I don't entirely trust them for the difference between 1 inch or 1 foot to impact! One would think on a $70k vehicle that they could throw in one more camera! The side cameras would be cool (for the entire 360) but a front camera should come standard on a vehicle of this price and size.

hello all. Newbie here. Recently bought 2021 max xlt. I wanted to install the front oem camera/washer emblem. What else beside that do i need? I cannot find anything on the complete wiring harness from front camera to the sync. Anyone have a layout of diagram? I just wanted the camera to park and the washers to keep it clean. The camera i bought from ebay have part of the wiring and hose harness, but i need to buy and run the rest. I dont need the sensors or anything fancy to turn on automatically. I replaced the single autostart button to the dual autostart/camera button.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I didn‘t think there was a washer on the front camera, isn’t it just on the rear?

I guess the XLT does not have the camera/washer at all. I bought one on ebay with the cemera & washer and now i would like to replace it. The one i bought came with pigtail and i have to find the rest of the electrical and washer harness to connect however i could not find it anywhere online. Also this electrical pig tail have 4 wires. Anyone know what is power and etc of these 4 wires?
